HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene says it has suspended the license of an assisted-living facility near Boonsboro after a patient with Alzheimer’s disease suffered severe injuries from allegedly falling through an unfinished floor.

The agency said Tuesday that the Soma Manor House could face permanent revocation of its license and a fine.

Eileen Rindone, 84, remained in serious condition at Shock Trauma in Baltimore Tuesday afternoon.

Soma Manor owner Dickson Tabi is charged with reckless endangerment and neglect. He allegedly failed to secure the second-floor during renovations and waited nearly eight hours to call an ambulance after the accident.

Tabi referred questions to his lawyer, Rockville attorney Raymond Anthracite. Anthracite declined to comment on the case.

Tabi is scheduled for a preliminary court appearance Sept. 6.
