COLUMBIA, Md. (WJZ)– Howard County Police are investigating a collision in a parking garage in Columbia that critically injured the driver of the vehicle.
Police say Shmuel Yaakov Kleiner, 60, was driving his 2003 Acura MDX van on the first floor of the parking garage on 10490 Little Patuxent Parkway when the vehicle hopped over the curb and hit a concrete support post head-on. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
The incident happened around 7:09 p.m. on Thursday.
The Baltimore man was flown to the R. Adams Crowley Shock Trauma Center.
Investigators say they are looking into the possibility that Kleiner may have suffered a medical emergency moments before the crash.
