Prince George's Co. Police Shoot Man In Oxon Hill

OXON HILL, Md. (AP) -- Officials say a Prince George's County police officer has shot a man following a confrontation in Oxon Hill.

Police were called to the 5100-block of Woodland Boulevard, near Barnaby Lane, about 10 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of a suspicious person in the area. Arriving officers found a man who appeared to be covered in blood.

Police say the man tried to fight with officers, and an officer used a Taser on him. Officials say the man then allegedly threatened to kill one or more officers. The man was shot by an officer and taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The officer who shot the man has been placed on paid administrative leave.

Police believe the man may have been high on PCP.
