D.C. Police Shoot Man Who Allegedly Brandished Knife
WASHINGTON (AP) — Metropolitan police say officers have shot and killed a man they say brandished a knife.
Police were called to 4th Street in southeast about 5:45 p.m. Friday. Officers encountered a man they say approached them brandishing a knife.
Officers ordered the man to drop the knife, but he did not. Officers shot the man.
The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was identified as Albert Payton, 24, of Washington.
The incident is under investigation.
