Fire At Carryout Restaurant In Baltimore Injures 4

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Authorities say a four-alarm fire at a carryout restaurant in Baltimore has left four people injured, including a firefighter.

Fire department spokesman Chief Kevin Cartwright says firefighters were called to the Chicken & Trout restaurant in the 4000-block of Frederick Avenue about 7:45 p.m. Sunday.

Cartwright says they arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the first and second floors of the building.

Three people in the building were rescued and taken to area hospitals.

Cartwright said their injuries were considered non-life threatening.

He says a firefighter also sustained a minor burn to his face and was treated and released at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Two neighboring buildings, a church and another carryout, were also damaged in the fire.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.  Arson detectives have determined the structure sustained about $210,000 in damage.
