DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley will headline U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin’s annual steak fry next month in Iowa.

O’Malley is chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, a vocal supporter of President Barack Obama and a likely 2016 presidential contender.

Harkin says Wednesday that O’Malley will be the featured guest at the event, held Sept. 16 at the Warren County Fairgrounds in Indianola.

The steak fry, now in its 35th year, is one of the most prominent Democratic events of the year in Iowa, drawing thousands of party activists.
