Driver Hospitalized Last Week After Car Crash In Damascus Is Dead

DAMASCUS, Md. (WJZ)-- A driver involved in a multiple vehicle collision on Ridge Road and Kemptown Road in Damascus on August 29 died at Baltimore Shock Trauma Thursday evening.

Montgomery County police say Billie Jo Wilson, 36, of Mount Airy was taken to the hospital after 2:29 p.m. on August 29 with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries at the time but died at 10 p.m. on Thursday. Wilson's passenger was also transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say an off-duty officer driving northbound on Ridge Road (Route 27) in an unmarked 2003 Crown Victoria police vehicle noticed a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am that Wilson was driving come towards him at very high speed. Wilson tried to pass the Crown Victoria by moving into the southbound lane but struck the vehicle's fender and slid across the southbound lane, struck the fence of a home, hit a commercial building adjacent to that home and flipped over onto its roof before stopping.

Police are investigating the crash and are asking anyone with information to call them at 301-840-2435.
