BALTIMORE STANDING TOGETHER: Watch town hall Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on WJZ, as leaders address issues the city is facing.

BOONSBORO, Md. (AP) — It’s “go” time for several thousand Civil War hobbyists in western Maryland.

A weekend of staged warfare and living history demonstrations opens Saturday near Boonsboro in observance of the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam.

It’s the first of two events on successive weekends before Sept. 17, the actual anniversary of the bloodiest one-day battle of the Civil War.

The event is open to the public with battle re-enactments scheduled on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
