1 Dead, Several Injured After Car Collides With MTA Bus

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ) -- One person is dead and several more injured after a car hit an MTA bus. The accident occurred on 8th Avenue Saturday evening.

According to police, a 2002 Lincoln LS crossed over the center line and into the oncoming lane, hitting an MTA bus head-on. The car was driven backward more than 40 feet and caught fire.

The car's driver, Marcus Anderson, was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. A passenger in the car, a 14-year-old boy, was taken to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Center. He is in stable condition. Neither of them were wearing seatbelts.

The bus's driver and eight of its 10 passengers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police believe speed and driver error are to blame for the accident. The accident is still under investigation.
