A line of showers and thunderstorms is accompanying a cold front across Maryland tonight. These storms are producing gusty winds and brief downpours, but have mainly been below severe criteria. What we mean by that is: winds over 58 mph, hail 1″ or larger, a tornado. The front will keep moving, and head out to sea overnight. There is some much cooler air behind the front, and it’s coming our way.
Warmer air arrived with the official start of Fall today. We topped out at 84 degrees this afternoon. The average is now 76 degrees, and we are going back below that average for the next few days. Highs will struggle to make 70 degrees both tomorrow and Monday, while overnight lows get back down to the 40s. Gusty winds will bring in that cooler air tomorrow, then back off somewhat for the game tomorrow night. Get out some of that warmer weather gear if you are going to the game because temperatures will drop to the 50s.
Dry air will hang around for a few days before the next front moves our way Wednesday. There is the chance for some showers and thunderstorms with that front, too. Highs will recover to or slightly above normal before the front comes through, then drop back to the low 70s again behind it.
