GOP's Blaine Young On Immigration Film Road Trip

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Republican gubernatorial hopeful Blaine Young is hitting the road with a film critical of illegal immigrants.

The Frederick County Board of Commissioners president is co-hosting a screening in Hagerstown Monday of the documentary, "They Come to America." Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins and filmmaker Dennis Lynch also planned to attend.

Young is raising money for a possible run for governor.

He and Jenkins screened the film last month in Frederick for more than 400 people. It's about the cost of illegal immigration in dollars and lost job opportunities for Americans.

Young and Jenkins have striven to make Frederick County inhospitable to illegal immigrants through measures that include making English the county's official language.

Jenkins' deputies are authorized by federal authorities to check the immigration status of criminal suspects.
