BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Although the Orioles are now 1.5 games behind the Yankees, they are on top of the Wild Card race.

Mike Schuh reports the stellar performance has meant a big bump in the amount of Orioles stuff being sold.

Exciting and competitive Orioles baseball has long been denied to the fans. A change is now showing up at ticket booths and stores.

“You look out and game days you see people multi-deep lined up around the building to buy tickets to get in there,” said Ed Meerholz, Sports Legends Museum.

Suddenly O’s gear is hot.

“Winning doesn’t hurt,” said James Elmore, O’s fan from Virginia.

Sales are way up in Maryland and some shelves are empty.

But nationwide, the Orioles are number three in sales for one large Internet company.

So who’s buying? John Fischel is preparing for playoff baseball.

“Going to get a shirt for the playoffs, a long-sleeved shirt. Hopefully, I’ll get some use out of it and enjoy it,” he said.

The bottom line: keep the winning happening and the sales will keep coming.

To put the O’s success in perspective, a full one-third of all Major League apparel has the Yankees logo on it.
