Several Men Arrested For Copper Theft In Anne Arundel Co.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- Police in Anne Arundel County make several arrests--tied to a recent string of copper thefts.

Surveillance footage from JB Machine and Parts in Glen Burnie led police to Kenneth Sanford, 30, and Christopher Bethurum, 23.

Police later arrested George Poe, 28, and Charles Sillaman, 25. They are accused of stealing nearly 150 pounds of copper wire from a Randallstown Home Depot, and attempting to sell it at the Maryland Recycle in Glen Burnie.

A fifth suspect was also taken into custody, after a confrontation with police in Pasadena. Police say two men were trying to steal copper wire from High Point Elementary, when they fled from police. A fight broke out after the chase, and officers were forced to use a taser to arrest Robert Shanabrook, 31. Police are still looking for the other man.
