WASHINGTON (AP) — Officials in Washington are participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s “National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.”

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., area residents can turn in their expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs to the Frederick Douglass Home in southeast Washington.

Officials say the so-called take-back events are scheduled to take place at more than 5,000 collection sites throughout the United States. The Drug Enforcement Administration says that in its four previous events officials took over 1.5 million pounds of pills.
