Founded in 1882, St. Timothy’s School is a college preparatory boarding and day school, preparing girls to assume positions of leadership with moral focus and courage, intellectual honesty and acumen, and the confidence to act responsibly and ethically in all areas of their lives. St. Timothy’s offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program. Through the IB curriculum, students learn to analyze and solve real life problems, collaborate, persevere, take calculated risks and learn from success and failure.
St. Timothy’s School is located on a beautiful, rural 145 acre campus close to Baltimore, Maryland, and an easy drive to Annapolis, Washington, DC, and Philadelphia. The campus has a brand new, state-of-the-art academic building which comprises 4,417 square feet of renovated space as well as a 7,828 square-foot addition. Building features include a library, world languages center, four science laboratories, the Center for Learning and Teaching, and a lecture hall and distance learning space. In addition to the academic building, there is a Student Center, two dormitories, a fine arts building, a performing arts building with a 350-seat theater, and a new outdoor athletic complex featuring a turf field, grass fields, 6 outdoor tennis courts. The equestrian center includes a barn with both indoor and outdoor rings. There is also a chapel, dining hall, an administrative building and faculty homes.
One of St. Timothy’s greatest assets is its small student to faculty ratio of 6:1. The average class size is 14. More than two thirds of faculty and administration live on campus. St. Timothy’s offers a rich and highly individualized program with superb resources in athletics, arts, clubs, world affairs, and community service, capitalizing on the talents and strengths of each individual student.
