Children's Museum Holds Festival Near Future Home

FORT WASHINGTON, Md. (AP) -- The National Children's Museum is holding a jump-roping competition at National Harbor in Maryland to count down to its opening in December.

The Jump Off competition Saturday also features performances by youth jump-roping teams. And there will be live music and appearances by the Washington Wizards and Washington Mystics street team.

The museum announced this week that it will open in its new home Dec. 14 at National Harbor. It previously operated for 30 years in Washington as the Capitol Children's Museum.

Part of the new museum will have a "Sesame Street" theme for children ages 3 and under. Officials expect the new site to draw 480,000 children each year.
