WEATHER BLOG: Rain Ahead?

After a rain delay for Sunday night's Orioles game, there is the chance for another delay Monday night.

As I am writing this at 3 p.m., most of the rain has held off for the city. However, the rain has really picked up for Carroll County west, with scattered showers along the Eastern Shore. Even more rain is coming up from the southwest, so we are going to see rounds of rain and drizzle scattered around the state. If you are heading to the game, hope for the best but have that rain gear with you.

Most of this rain will move offshore overnight, while clouds, fog, and even some drizzle will linger through Tuesday morning. Clouds will then try to break for some sunshine Tuesday afternoon, but we will still have a lot of clouds. This will keep the chilly air locked in place. We will start out the day in the 40s (30s out west), only recovering to the upper 50s/near 60 Tuesday afternoon.

Just as we get rid of this storm, another one moves our way from the northwest Wednesday. There is not a lot of moisture with this next storm. There is the small chance for a shower with the front's passage Wednesday. Otherwise, there will just be another round of clouds with yet another temperature swing - but a much smaller one. We warm to the upper 60s Wednesday ahead of the front, then drop back below average to the low 60s behind it Thursday.

Drier air will follow the mid-week front. Expect a lot of sunshine Thursday. Some clouds will mix with the sunshine Friday as a second, weak front passes through. Then, it will turn out mostly sunny again Saturday before we look ahead to another storm with some rain moving our way late in the weekend or early next week.
