Md. Man Arrested In Del. Robbery Attempts
NEWARK, Del. (AP) -- Newark Police have charged a Maryland man in two robbery attempts.
Stephen Mattucci, 34, of Elkton is charged with attempted robbery and possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony. He is being held on $40,500 secured bail.
Police say about 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday, two women were walking on Choate Street when an SUV stopped on the street. Officers say Mattucci got out of the vehicle holding a crowbar and demanded the women's purses. The women fled without giving up their property and called police.
Police say shortly thereafter, Mattucci got out of his vehicle, approached a man in another vehicle, broke out the driver's side window and choked the victim while demanding money.
Police say the man fought Mattucci off and called police.
