ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — State Sen. Brian Frosh has formed an exploratory committee to run for Maryland attorney general in two years.

The committee includes Rep. Chris Van Hollen and former governors Parris Glendening and Harry Hughes, among other political leaders.

Frosh, a Montgomery County Democrat, says in a statement that he’ll spend the next several months talking to “knowledgeable Marylanders” about the race before making a formal announcement.

Frosh, 66, is an attorney who’s served in the Legislature for more than 25 years. He’s chairman of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee.

Current Attorney General Doug Gansler is believed to be planning a run for governor.
