Religious Groups To Respond To Anti-Jihad Ads

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A coalition of religious groups is responding to an advertising campaign in the D.C. mass transit system that equates Muslim radicals with savages.

The coalition, which includes representatives from Christian, Muslim and Jewish groups, will call on Metro on Monday to donate proceeds from the ad campaign to a charity that supports human rights.

The ads were proposed by the American Freedom Defense Initiative. The group sued last month after Metro officials delayed displaying the ads.

The ads went up in several Metro stations earlier this week after a federal judge ordered Metro to display them.

The coalition will make its announcement Monday morning at the United Methodist Building.
