Part Of 295 Shut Down In Anne Arundel County

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- The State Highway Administration has shut down part of northbound 295 at West Nursery Road in northern Anne Arundel County.

According to officials, the West Nursery Road bridge deck over 295 was scheduled to be removed using a piece of equipment that would wheel it away. Early Saturday morning, when that operation was planned to be carried out, the load shifted. Officials say they will now return the deck to its original location and secure it. More than 35 pieces of equipment will be used in this operation. After the deck is re-installed, SHA officials and bridge inspectors will ensure that the bridge deck is secure and safe.

Officials say the road will be closed until further notice.

Drivers are asked to use I-95, US 1 or US 29 as alternate routes. Those traveling east or west should use Hammonds Ferry Road instead of West Nursery Road.

Southbound 295 is open to all traffic.
