1 Dead After Car And BoltBus Crash On I-95
NEWARK, Del. (AP/WJZ) -- A driver is dead and another man is injured after a car and a BoltBus traveling to Washington, D.C. crashed on Interstate 95.
Police say the accident happened Wednesday at about 5:36 p.m. in Newark. Police say the driver of a 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was traveling south in the right lane of I-95 when for an unknown reason she veered across several lanes of traffic. The car was then struck by a BoltBus.
The bus was traveling to Washington, D.C. when it collided with a car near the Delaware toll plaza just outside of the Maryland line. Thirty-two people were on the bus, and several of them suffered minor injuries.
The crash caused the Chevrolet to spin and overturn and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt, and police are trying to determine her identity.
A 41-year-old male passenger who was wearing a seatbelt was flown to a hospital and is in critical condition.
An investigation is ongoing.
