National Aquarium Prepares For Hurricane Sandy
BALTIMORE (AP) -- The National Aquarium in Baltimore says it's open for business this weekend, but the staff is also busy getting ready for the approaching Hurricane Sandy.
Aquarium officials say they're ensuring that their generators have fuel, have a dry ice vendor on-call and are staying in touch with the police and fire departments.
The building also has a floodgate system installed that's intended to protect it from rising water. Officials say they have a responsibility to keep the animals safe.
The aquarium is celebrating Hallowmarine, a special event timed to Halloween, this weekend.
