Naval Academy Taking Precautions Ahead Of Storm

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The Naval Academy is taking precautions ahead of Hurricane Sandy, especially since Annapolis is a city prone to flooding.

Cmdr. William Marks, a spokesman, says Navy sailboats normally stored in a basin are being moved across the Severn River into a more secure location.

Officials are also moving electronic and laboratory equipment to higher ground and are working with residents to ensure that windows are taped and other basic property precautions are taken.

Marks says officials plan to gather at an emergency operations center on Monday to do another assessment.
