BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore’s new chief information officer says the city’s six historic public markets should be equipped with wireless Internet service by the end of the year.
The best-known, Lexington Market, is the first to receive the upgrade.
It’s being funded with a donation from Believe Wireless Broadband.
On Thursday evening, supporters helped flip the switch to turn on Internet service at the Lexington Market.
Chris Tonjes, who runs the mayor’s Office of Information Technology, says it will cost less than $25,000 to equip the other five markets.
They are Avenue, Broadway Market, Cross Street, Hollins and Northeast.
