REISTERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Maryland is sending 25 state troopers and workers from Baltimore to assist with recovery efforts in New York and New Jersey following Superstorm Sandy.

The Maryland Emergency Management Agency said Saturday that state troopers are being sent to Fort Dix, N.J. to be deployed to assist local law enforcement officers. They will be based primarily in Monmouth and Ocean counties.

Four Baltimore City workers will be assisting staff in the New York State Emergency Operations Center in Albany, N.Y.

On Thursday, 23 emergency medical providers from part of the state deployed to northern New Jersey with life support ambulances. Most of their work is based in Jersey City.
