Student Shot At Perry Hall HS To Attend Blood Drive At Shooting Site

PERRY HALL, Md. (AP) -- A Baltimore County high school student shot on the first day of school will attend a blood drive in the cafeteria where the shooting took place.

Daniel Borowy, 17, was flown to the Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center after the shooting at Perry Hall High School. Another student was charged in the shooting, which police said was random.

Borowy recently returned to classes.

He plans to attend Tuesday afternoon's blood drive, which is being hosted by the University of Maryland Medical Center from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Perry Hall cafeteria. Walk-in donors are welcome.

The American Red Cross has a shortfall of blood due to Superstorm Sandy, which forced the cancellation of more than 375 blood drives.
