Man Arrested, Believed Linked To 2 Carjackings

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police say they believe a man arrested in a September carjacking along Rockville Pike is linked to another carjacking from last month.

Police this month arrested Byron Deshane Govan, 27, of White Plains on charges including auto theft and carjacking.

The first carjacking occurred Sept. 27 in Rockville after a woman's car was stolen by a man who implied he had a weapon.

The second occurred Oct. 31 near White Flint Mall, when an armed man forced a couple from their car and drove off.

Police chased after the car but the driver bailed and ran away.

Police reviewed surveillance footage from that crime and believe the same man is responsible for both carjackings.

Govan is being held without bond. Court records don't list a lawyer for him.
