Missing Virginia Infant Located In Maryland

HALIFAX, Va. (AP) -- Authorities say an 18-month-old girl who was abducted from Halifax County, Va. has been found safe.

Halifax County Sheriff Fred Clark said Alexis Rose Carwile was found Friday morning in Prince George's County, Md.

The Virginia State Police had issued an Amber Alert late Thursday.

Officials say her parents, Eric Eugene Black and Jennifer Dawn Carwile, abducted the child after Campbell County authorities awarded custody to social services.

Black was stopped while driving alone on Interstate 95 in Prince George County. Information from a family member led authorities to Jennifer Carwile. She was arrested in Maryland.

The infant is now in protective custody.
