Police To Conduct SWAT Training At Vacant Hotel

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A vacant hotel in Hagerstown will be used by police to conduct SWAT training.

The former Hagerstown Hotel and Convention Center closed in the summer and its owner has told the city that it intends to demolish the building.

On Tuesday, the Hagerstown City Council unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding with the property's owner to allow the police training.

The memorandum will remain in effect until Nov. 15, 2013.

A city official tells the Herald-Mail of Hagerstown that said it's not unusual for police to use vacant buildings that will be demolished for training purposes.
