City Of Frederick Names Acting Police Chief

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The city of Frederick has named an acting chief of police.

The city announced Monday that Frederick Mayor Randy McClement has appointed Capt. Thomas Ledwell acting chief of police. Ledwell will start in his new role at the close of business on Dec. 5. He has worked for the city's police department for 20 years.

Ledwell replaces Police Chief Kim Dine who this month accepted a position as chief of the U.S. Capitol Police in Washington. Dine has been Frederick's police chief for 10 years. He will take over as chief of the U.S. Capitol Police in mid-December.
