BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Ravens fans can’t get enough of running back Ray Rice after what many say was the game-changing play that helped the team take down San Diego.

Derek Valcourt has more on the excitement generated by Ray Rice.

Ray Rice can do no wrong and fans are literally calling him their football hero.

At the end of the fourth quarter, the Ravens were down three points and needed a lift–and Ray Rice gave it to them. He made the fourth down catch and ran 29 yards.

“Hey diddle diddle, Ray Rice up the middle. That’s just my little saying,” Rice said.

His little saying is now a big hit–so big, it’s already a T-shirt slogan. Rightfully so, according to fans.

“Most awesome play! I don’t understand why it was under review. I was in my house screaming about it,” said Rene Hammonds.

“I only have one thing to say to Ray Rice: thank you,” said Charlie Bryant. “Thank you!”

Fans who came out to greet Rice during a 98 Rock radio show say the overtime win couldn’t have happened without that play.

“If it wasn’t for that, we would have been tuck our head low and tail between our legs and going home,” said Drew Janiak.

“It’s great to be nine and two,” Rice said.

A humble Rice said much of the credit goes to his teammates, including Anquan Boldin, whose block made it all possible.

“It was a big play but needless to say, if you go throughout the game, there was many big plays. Mine just had to be the one to stand out,” Rice said.

But fans still say Ray gets their love.

“We needed Ray to pull through and he did,” said Tammy Bryant.

Meanwhile, Rice isn’t spending too much time looking back. He’s looking forward to this weekend’s home game against the Steelers.
