71-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed On Baltimore-Washington Parkway

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) -- State police say a 71-year-old man was struck and killed while walking on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, and the driver didn't stop.

The collision occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday. Police say they got a call about a person walking in the northbound lanes of the parkway, also known as Route 295, near Interstate 695 in Glen Burnie.

When police arrived, the man was found lying in the left lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He's been identified as Henry Smith of Laurel.

Police say they don't know why Smith was walking on the highway. They've found no evidence that he had broken down while driving in the area.

Police say they don't have a description of the vehicle that hit Smith.
