GBMC Welcomes 2 Babies Born On 12-12-12

TOWSON, Md. (WJZ)—Happy birth date. Two Maryland babies were born on 12-12-12 at Greater Baltimore Medical Center.

Mary Bubala reports it's a unique date that's hard to forget.

At only hours old, Pierce Miles is special. Of course his parents naturally think that, but so will the rest of the world.

Pierce was born Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012 or 12-12-12.

Ashley and Gene Miles say it was a pure coincidence. Pierce was overdue.

"We didn't plan it at all, but we are excited that it did take place on 12-12-12," said Ashley Miles, new mom.

"If he does play sports, hypothetically he's an athlete. I think he knows what number he's going to be: 12 is definitely this boy's number," said Gene Miles, new dad.

And it's a little girl's number, too! GBMC has two 12-12-12 babies.

New mom, Cristina Meneses and her partner Andrea Vaughn say Silvia came a day early but now has the coolest birthday.

"She came on the right day at the right time and everything lined up together," Meneses said.

"We joked so many times, 'Oh wouldn't it be hilarious if she was born on 12-12-12? Ah, that will never happen,' and here she is," Vaughn said.

Many cultures believe a baby born on 12-12-12 will go on to lead a life of prosperity.

But these moms are more practical over how their baby's special birth date will help.

"We have 13 nieces and nephews between my husband and I, so we have a little bit of difficulty remembering everyone's birthday, but I don't think anyone is going to forget his," Ashley Miles said.

"I have a bad memory for birthdays, so this makes me feel better about life," Meneses said.

It really is special because the next time three numbers will align will be on Jan. 1, 2101.

Hundreds of couples also tied the knot across the world so they have a special anniversary date.
