2 Dead In Beltsville Crash

BELTSVILLE, Md. (AP) — Maryland State Police say two people are dead following a crash in Beltsville that closed Route 1.

Police say a car crashed into a tow truck about 1:30 a.m. Friday, killing both occupants of the car. Police say the driver of the car was at fault. The identities of the two victims were not immediately released. The driver of the tow truck was taken to an area hospital.

The crash closed Route 1 at Powder Mill Road. WTOP reports that police say the roadway could remain closed through the morning rush hour.
