Phylicia Barnes Murder Trial: Witness To Testify Missing Teen Was Seen Alive

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—There are new developments in a case that captured the attention of the nation: the disappearance and murder of Phylicia Barnes.

Barnes was 16 when she disappeared from her sister's apartment in Northwest Baltimore two years ago.

A nationwide search ended when her body was pulled out of the Susquehanna River.

Her sister's ex-boyfriend Michael Johnson is charged with her murder. Prosecutors say he strangled Barnes in the apartment and then transported her body to Cecil County in a plastic tub.

WJZ's media partner, The Baltimore Sun, reports that a witness will dispute that at trial.

The witness claims he saw Barnes alive in Cecil County several days after she went missing.

Johnson is scheduled to go to trial next month.
