GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ) — A man is arrested and charged with attempting to rob a truck driver and a gas station in Glen Burnie.

Police said early Thursday morning a 52-year-old man approached a Mobil gas station on the 7200- block of Ritchie Highway and tried to rob the store clerk by implying he had a gun. The robbery attempt was interrupted by a witness inside the store.

According to police, the suspect then stopped a 53-year-old man who was delivering fuel to the station. Officers said the suspect again implied he had a gun and ordered the man to give him money. After the man complied, he was told to take out more money from his truck. The man pulled out a can of pepper spray and used it on the suspect. He then held him down until police arrived.

The suspect was identified as Jerry Garett Piercy, a Glen Burnie resident. He was arrested and charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of armed robbery, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, theft over $100 and reckless endangerment.
