Police ID Man Found Dead In Inner Harbor

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore police say have identified a man whose body was pulled from the Inner Harbor.

The Baltimore Sun reports that 36-year-old Benjamin Bell had been released from a detention facility earlier this month and never returned home.

A city sanitation worker found Bell's body floating in the harbor around 9 a.m. Sunday. Police say a Division of Correction identification card was found in his pocket, and police reached out to his family, who had recently filed a missing persons report.

Relatives told police that they were told he was released from jail on Dec. 7. Court records show Bell has several minor arrests. He was arrested on Nov. 28 for failing to appear for a court hearing on a marijuana possession charge. He was given a six-month suspended sentence.
