Police: Anne Arundel County Store Employee Fatally Shoots Intruder

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP/WJZ) -- Anne Arundel County police say a store employee fatally shot someone trying to break into his shop in Glen Burnie.

It happened around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at Anne Arundel Cards and Coins n Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard.

Police say an employee told officers that an intruder had tried to break into the store, and that the man was shot during an altercation.

The intruder--identified as 30-year-old Byron Keith Phillip, of Chester--ran out of the business and collapsed.

When paramedics arrived to the scene, Phillip was pronounced dead.

At this time investigators are not releasing the name of the employee pending further investigation. No charges were immediately announced.
