UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — A former FBI agent has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for a drunken-driving crash in which an 18-year-old man was killed.

Adrian Johnson, 39, was convicted in October of charges including motor vehicle manslaughter and homicide by motor vehicle while intoxicated. Johnson was sentenced Friday.

Authorities say Johnson was intoxicated and speeding when he crashed his car into another vehicle in Brandywine on Feb. 7, 2011. The crash killed the driver of the other car, Lawrence Garner Jr., and seriously injured Garner’s friend, Robert Mitchell II.

Johnson’s lawyer argued in court that the crash was unavoidable and not his client’s fault. He has said he will appeal the conviction.
