WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Jewish Film Festival is opening with a lineup of 55 films being shown across the city over the next week.

The festival opened Thursday night with two screenings of “Paris Manhattan” at the U.S. Navy Memorial. The French film follows Alice, whose parents try to set her up with a handsome man to cure her of her obsession with Woody Allen. It will be shown again Jan. 9 at the AFI Silver Theatre.

The festival’s centerpiece film is “Dorfman,” which follows 28-year-old Deb Dorfman in her quest for love as she moves to Los Angeles. It will be shown Jan. 8 at the Avalon Theatre.

The festival features films from 15 countries. It also includes a short film pub crawl Saturday along U Street.
