Man Arrested With 350 Pounds Of Marijuana In Van

BERLIN, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say they found 350 pounds of marijuana in a van after a traffic stop in Berlin.

Troopers said Friday that the traffic stop occurred Sunday on southbound Route 113. A trooper said the van failed to move over into an available lane after passing the cruiser.

Authorities say the trooper became suspicious and called for a State Police drug dog team. Officers say the dog alerted and a search turned up five large nylon duffel bags which contained the marijuana.

Donald P. Gayle, 54, of New Brunswick, N.J., the driver of the van, was arrested and charged with drug offenses.
