ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (WJZ) -- An inmate at the Howard County Detention Center in Jessup has attempted suicide.
Around 1:45 p.m. Saturday, an officer said he witnessed Demetrius Hunt, 22, hanging from a sheet that had been tied to an upper level railing.
Several officers cut down Hunt, who was transported to Howard County General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Hunt is serving an 18-month sentence for first-degree assault. He has been incarcerated at the detention center since July 28, 2012.
According to corrections officials, Hunt had a history of disruptive behavior and was held under administrative segregation.
