Man Sentenced To 60 Years For Prince George’s Robbery

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — A man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for robbing more than nine people at a party at a College Park apartment complex.

Sergio Hernandez was sentenced in Prince George’s County on Thursday after being convicted of charges including theft, robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

The 24-year-old Hernandez was convicted of 52 of the 53 counts he faced stemming from the August 2011 robbery. The stolen items included cell phones, cash and other electronics from people at the party.

More than 15 witnesses, including some victims, testified against Hernandez.

Prosecutors say three other people are believed to have played roles in the robbery. Two have pleaded guilty, and the other suspect remains unidentified. The investigation is continuing.
