Steve Davis: Ravens Must Win Possession Battle
It is no secret that it is a tall task for the Ravens to win.
We all know the deal:
- Denver has won 11 straight
- Ravens have lost 4 of 6
- Denver gets after the passer leading the NFL with 52 sacks
- Ravens have a shaky offensive line
- Manning kills the Ravens, winning 9 straight vs. Baltimore
So, I am looking at one number. Time of possession. The Ravens have been getting destroyed in this category all year, even in games they win. That cannot happen this week. They must mount long drives with a running game or they will lose.
To me, the big stat is time of possession. Lose that and the Ravens lose. Win it and they have a shot.
