BALTIMORE (AP) — Despite missing most of last season, outfielder Nolan Reimold more than doubled his salary when he agreed to a $1 million, one-year contract with the Baltimore Orioles.

The 29-year-old hit .313 with five home runs and 10 RBIs last year, when he didn’t play after April 30 because of a herniated disk in his neck. He made $490,500.

Reimold’s agreement, announced Friday, avoided salary arbitration. Baltimore has eight players still eligible to file Tuesday: catcher Matt Wieters; right-handers Tommy Hunter, Jason Hammel, Jim Johnson and Darren O’Day; left-handers Brian Matusz and Troy Patton; and infielder Chris Davis.

In addition to his salary, Reimold would get $50,000 if he’s an All-Star and $50,000 if he wins a Silver Slugger Award.
