Excitement Reaches Fevered Pitch As Ravens Head To AFC Championship

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore is bathed in purple as excitement over the team's victory reaches a fevered pitch among fans.

Gigi Barnett takes a look at how fans are wearing their purple with pride.

Wherever you go, just look around: Baltimore is doused in purple.

With the AFC Championship game in sight, the purple passion around town has skyrocketed.

"I'm Baltimore to my heart. You say `purple,' you say `Brenda Durley,'" said Ravens fan Brenda Durley.

"It kind of picks up your spirits 'cause you know everybody's into it and they're cheering them on and stuff," said Ravens fan Traudi Larsen.

And you don't have to be a two-legged fan to don the team's color.

"Love the purple. What a great time to be a Baltimore sports fan. Orioles, great season; the Ravens...it's unbelievable," said Ravens fan Leroy Yegge.

At Z-Burgers in White Marsh, it's free burgers for fans. (The password is "Super Bowl.")

At a Giant in Waverly, fans can write letters to the team and then post them in the Baltimore Ravens' mail system.

It's Ray's last shot at a Super Bowl. For some fans, they're turning to superstition.

"You know I will, if I have to wear purple undies," said one fan.

Because too much purple is still not enough.

Next weekend, the Ravens will take on either the Patriots for the AFC Championship. The winner of that game will go on to the Super Bowl.
