BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Baltimore City Police fatally shot a man when they say he opened fire during a foot chase.

It happened in the 500-block of North Medeira Street around 8 p.m. Friday.

Police say they approached a group of men on Jefferson Street when one of them started to walk away. An officer tried to follow, but says the man turned around and started shooting.

The suspect was then killed when the officer returned fire. Detectives are investigating.
