TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Jamie Adams scored 18 points as Florida A&M held off Maryland-Eastern Shore 55-54 Saturday night in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action.

The Rattlers (6-14, 3-3), who have won two in a row after an eight-game skid, led 55-49 with 3:29 left after an Adams’ 3-pointer. The Hawks then scored five unanswered points, capped by Ishaq Pitt’s jumper with 51 seconds remaining. After Florida A&M’s Muhammad Abdul-Aleem turned the ball over, Kevin Mays missed the potential game-winning jumper with 5 seconds to go.

The Rattlers pulled away early in the second half following seven ties. Knotted at 32-32, Florida A&M rattled off eight straight points and led by as many as 10 after the break before the Hawks closed the gap.

Maryland-Eastern Shore (1-14, 1-3), coming off its first win of the season, 58-53 over Delaware State, was led by Mays with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Troy Snyder added 15 boards.
