10-Year-Old Girl Dies In Dundalk House Fire

DUNDALK, Md. (WJZ) — A Maryland family is devastated. An out-of-control house fire claims the life of a young girl.

Adam May reports investigators are trying to figure out how it started.

Raven Lacy’s life was cut tragically short this weekend. The 10-year-old was trapped inside her burning home, overcome by smoke and flames.

“Sweet little girl, she was very pretty,” said Ashley Grace.

Ashley Grace’s daughter was Raven’s best friend at Holabird Academy.

“I’m going to have to sit down with her and tell her she went to a better place,” she said.

Investigators don’t know what caused the fire, but say it was so intense they couldn’t get inside for almost an hour.

“The home was occupied by about eight people when the fire broke out. I believe a granddad, a mother and approximately six children,” said Chief Kevin Cartwright, Baltimore City Fire Department.

Some of them suffered minor injuries.

“It was engulfed in flames, like someone set a bomb off,” said Tim Sidor.

Neighbors like Tim Sidor drop off condolences. The sadness is overwhelming on Hartwait Street.

“For the little girl here, rest in peace. We all love you,” he said.

The other children in the family are expected to be OK.

It’s unclear if the home had any working smoke alarms.
